Phoenix Children’s Hospital, one of the ten largest children’s hospitals in the country, engaged Studio Sedition to develop an interactive Flash website for their 25th anniversary. The website is an interactive timeline with photo and stories that can be posted via an administration section after approval from PCH staff. The administration section is programmed in PHP and the stories are stored in a MySQL database. Once approved the stories are displayed on the website by Flash using ActionScript, which consumes XML that is generated by PHP from the MySQL database results. The Flash timeline is dynamic in that it adds panels to a specific timeframe when there is no room left for an additional story in a specific timeframe. The animation of the timeline is written in ActionScript using physics based on the number of panels and distance from one timeframe to another.
